About

Coding Mantis is the personal blog of Abhishek Shrivastava as a medium for sharing all the random thoughts floating aimlessly around his head. The content can vary from computers to his favourite quotations ;)

Abhishek is currently a Masters student at IIIT Hyderabad where he is learning about Machine learning, Computer Vision and Graphics.

He has also worked as an intern in a couple of software shops making and breaking things. Please take a look at his resume for learning more about his technical background.

When Abhishek is not spending time on his computer you can find him reading a physical book or walking in random places. He loves watching DOTA2, and is an ardent follower of the game. He dreams to be at The International someday!

He tries to maintain a list of books he has read till now here

Abhishek has spent nearly 35% (this number came after a lot of careful calculations) of his time on earth infront of a computer.

The first computing machine that he ever worked on was the spectacular IBM Aptiva S 2174 PC, in 1998, which came with the legendary model M keyboard He still has that machine and the keyboard. Although with a much modern hardware.

Currently he uses Arch with i3wm as the GUI frontend. He uses Vim for all text editing, web browsing(vimium) and file management(ranger). All the software he works with is FLOSS apart from intel powered bios.

He has also worked with really old computers starting from Intel 486 and loves to tinker with vintage computer systems.
